What Gochar (Transit) Analysis Actually Compares

Your natal chart is fixed forever at your birth moment, but the real planets keep orbiting — gochar takes today's actual planetary positions and asks which of YOUR natal houses each one currently falls into, since a transiting planet activates the significations of whatever house it's passing through relative to your specific Lagna.

How to Read This Table

A slow-moving planet like Saturn or Jupiter sitting in a house for an extended stretch tends to carry more sustained weight than a fast-moving one like the Moon (which changes houses roughly every 2-3 days) — the dignity column matters too, since a transiting planet in its own or exalted sign generally expresses its significations more cleanly than one debilitated or afflicted.

What does "gochar" mean?
The Sanskrit term for planetary transit — the ongoing movement of the real planets through the zodiac, read against the fixed positions of your natal chart.
How is a transiting house different from my natal house?
Your natal house placement for a planet is fixed forever from birth; a TRANSIT house is wherever that same planet currently sits in the sky today, counted from your same natal Lagna — the two can be, and usually are, different.
Which transits matter most?
Slower-moving planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu, Ketu) are generally read as having more sustained, significant impact per house than fast movers (Moon, Mercury, Venus, Sun, Mars), since they linger in a house for much longer.
Do I need my exact birth time for accurate transit houses?
Yes — since transit houses are counted from your natal Lagna, and the Lagna is highly time-sensitive, an accurate birth time is just as important here as for your main birth chart.
Does this show past or future transits, or only right now?
This calculator shows the transits active at the moment you submit the form; for Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu specifically, it also shows when the CURRENT transit will next end (the next sign change).
