The 120-year Vimshottari cycle isn't something that starts fresh at birth — it's treated as a continuous background cycle already in progress, and your birth simply lands somewhere inside whichever Mahadasha happens to be running based on your Moon's nakshatra. Only the REMAINING portion of that period — the balance — is what you actually experience after birth.

How the Exact Fraction Is Calculated

Each of the 27 nakshatras spans exactly 13°20' of the zodiac and is permanently linked to one of the nine dasha lords. This calculator measures precisely how many of those 13°20' the Moon had already crossed at your birth moment, and scales the ruling lord's full classical Mahadasha length by the fraction still remaining.
