What Is Kemadruma Yoga?
The Moon represents the mind, emotional life, and the sense of being supported by one's surroundings. Kemadruma checks whether any planet sits in the houses directly adjacent to the Moon (its 2nd and 12th) or in a kendra from it. When none do, classical texts read this as the Moon lacking companionship in the chart — traditionally associated with emotional loneliness, restlessness, or a sense that fortune arrives less steadily than for others.
Which Planets Count as Support
Classical practice excludes the Sun (since a Sun-Moon conjunction or adjacency has its own separate significations, including possible Amavasya-related readings) and the lunar nodes Rahu and Ketu (shadow points, not physical planets) from this particular check. Only Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn are counted as genuine "support" for the Moon under this rule.
Why a Present Kemadruma Doesn't Settle the Matter
Classical commentators are explicit that Kemadruma's traditional severity is significantly softened by other chart factors — a strong Lagna, a well-placed dispositor of the Moon's sign, or benefic aspects onto the Moon itself can all counteract it substantially. This calculator reports whether the core geometric condition is met; the full picture requires those additional factors.
