Gajakesari Yoga Calculator
Gajakesari Yoga — "the elephant-lion combination" — is one of the most widely cited benefic yogas in Vedic astrology. It forms when the **Moon and Jupiter** stand in mutual kendra from each other: the 1st, 4th, 7th, or 10th house counted either way. This calculator checks the exact house relationship between your Moon and Jupiter and reports whether the yoga is present.
Ayanamsa: Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) · Houses: Whole Sign · Rule: Moon and Jupiter in mutual kendra (1st/4th/7th/10th from each other)

What Is Gajakesari Yoga?
The name combines gaja (elephant) and kesari (lion) — two animals classically associated with strength, dignity, and commanding presence. The yoga pairs the Moon's receptivity and public visibility with Jupiter's wisdom, ethics, and goodwill, and is traditionally read as producing a mind that is both sharp and trusted, often accompanied by a strong, well-regarded reputation.
Why "Mutual" Kendra Matters
Kendra houses — 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th — form a symmetric cross around any chart, so if Jupiter is in kendra from the Moon, the Moon is automatically also in kendra from Jupiter. This calculator checks that single relationship directly: it measures the house Jupiter occupies counted from the Moon's position as the reference point.
What Changes the Yoga's Strength
Not every Gajakesari Yoga carries equal weight. Its classical strength depends on how well-placed and unafflicted both the Moon and Jupiter are — a waxing, strong Moon paired with a dignified Jupiter produces a far more pronounced effect than the same angular relationship formed by a weak or combust Moon.
