Debilitation and Why It Gets Cancelled
Every planet has a sign of debilitation (neecha) — its point of weakest classical expression, the opposite of its exaltation sign. Left unchecked, a debilitated planet is read as struggling to deliver its natural significations cleanly. But BPHS lays out several specific conditions under which that debility is not just softened but fully reversed — and, in the strongest cases, converted into an unusually potent source of success.
The Condition This Calculator Checks
This calculator checks the most commonly cited cancellation condition: the dispositor — the ruling lord of the sign the debilitated planet sits in — is itself placed in a kendra house (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) counted from either the Lagna or the Moon. When that holds, the debility is classically read as cancelled, sometimes converting into a Raja Yoga in its own right.
Other Classical Cancellation Conditions
The fuller classical tradition also recognizes cancellation when the lord of the planet's exaltation sign occupies a kendra, when the debilitated planet is aspected by its dispositor, or when two planets in mutual debilitation exchange signs.
