Bhava Chalit Chart Calculator
The Bhava Chalit ("moving houses") chart re-derives your house boundaries from the **exact degree of your Lagna**, rather than treating each whole sign as a clean 30° house. Because house cusps in this system fall at your Lagna's precise degree plus multiples of 30°, a planet sitting near the start or end of a sign can land in a genuinely different house than it does in your main Rashi (D1) chart. This calculator computes both and shows exactly where they diverge.

Why Bhava Chalit Exists Alongside the Rashi Chart
The Rashi (D1) chart treats every sign as a full house, which is simple and standard for most Parashari analysis, but it ignores exactly where within that sign your Lagna actually falls. If your Lagna sits at 28° of a sign, a planet at 2° of the very next sign is astronomically much closer to your ascendant than one at 29° of your own Lagna sign — Bhava Chalit accounts for that by measuring houses from your precise rising degree instead.
The System This Calculator Uses
This calculator applies the Sripati-style equal-bhava method: each house cusp sits exactly 30° apart, starting from your Lagna's own precise longitude rather than 0° of its sign. A graha is placed in whichever 30°-wide bhava window its longitude actually falls into — which, for a graha near a sign boundary, can differ from its Rashi (D1) house.
When the Difference Actually Matters
For most charts, most planets land in the same house under both systems — the divergence only shows up for grahas sitting close to a sign boundary relative to the Lagna's own degree offset. When a planet does shift, many practicing astrologers give real weight to its Bhava Chalit placement for house-based predictions specifically, while still using the Rashi chart for sign-based dignity and yoga analysis.
